ADON: Assistant Director of Nursing Requirements:

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing and four (4) years of experience in professional nursing activities, two (2) of which were in a supervisory capacity.

OR

• Graduation from an approved three (3) year school of nursing and five (5) years of experience in professional nursing activities, two (2) of which were in a supervisory capacity.

OR

• Graduation from a regionally accredited two (2) year college with an associate degree in nursing and six (6) years of experience in professional nursing activities, two (2) of which were in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities of an ADON: Assistant Director of Nursing:

• Instructs and assists nursing staff on nursing problems, and ward management and related activities.
• Coordinates the services rendered by other departments in the interest effective management and patient services.
• Confers with medical staff in providing for adequate nursing services.
• Assists in formulation and execution of policies and procedures governing the nursing services.
• Acts as Director of Nursing Service in her absence.
• Promotes and maintains good relationships with patients, relatives, and friends.
• Visits patients as necessary and supervises to maintain high standards of service.
• Supervises the keeping of good records and submits a variety of reports on nursing service.
• Prepares and keeps a variety of reports and records.
